UAMS Palliative Care
Presbyterian Women provide blankets for patients in palliative care at UAMS. We cut and tie “no sew” fleece blankets after church on third Sundays (except holidays). Everyone is invited to join us. Once a month, we take fleece to Presbyterian Village so the residents can participate in this program. The blankets are delivered to the UAMS Chaplains who distribute them.
Each November, Westover Hills Presbyterian Women provide refreshments for the Ceremony of Remembrance at UAMS. This is an annual gathering of family members of patients who have been cared for in the Palliative Care Unit for the previous year. Westover Women furnish cookies, sandwiches, cheese appetizers, coffee and punch. The service includes readings and reflections by chaplains and physicians, followed by a time of sharing and visiting among the family members.
