Arkansas Peace Week
Arkansas Peace Week, September 20-27, 2020, celebrates Peacemaking as a means to instill justice, build stronger communities, alleviate poverty, promote ecological stewardship, end war, eliminate the scourge of violence in our society, while seeking respect, inclusion and fair treatment of all people.
Arkansas Peace Week was Westover Hill’s September 2019 Second Sunday Offering helping to sponsor a Youth Summit focusing on Climate Control, Global Warming and Ecological Communities, the youth-oriented Peace Fest, and a Habitat for Humanity House.
These were among numerous other events planned throughout our state, featuring education, service, dialogue and outreach activities promoting peace and justice in the state. For 2019, a nonviolence curriculum was adopted by Little Rock School District, Pulaski County School District and Catholic Schools, reaching thousands of students across the state. Other events included the 3rd Annual DecARcerate Conference, a Peace March and Westover Hill’s 2019 Cotham Lectures featuring John Pavlovitz.
