Westover Hills members make a concerted effort to know our sisters and brothers of other faiths through interactions with the Madina Institute Arkansas USA; The Interfaith Center of Arkansas (theinterfaithcenter.org); Arkansas House of Prayer (arkansashouseofprayer.org); Church Women United; and Arkansas Culture and Dialog Center (formerly Raindrop Foundation).
The adults engage in myriad ways to enhance their literacy skills. From reader’s theater to basic vocabulary lessons, the students are eager to participate, and have an excellent homework record. One student said they even like the vocabulary lessons because they have stories to tell and they are hungry for words.
Westover Hills volunteers use their vast creative talents to provide art lessons to teenagers at the Pulaski County Juvenile Detention Center. The students enjoy the time, as it provides a means to express themselves as well as a chance for relaxed conversation with the volunteers.
The community of faith at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church is no stranger to natural disasters.
