Women and Children First, a Center Against Family Violence, is a shelter for women and their children who are victims of abuse. Their mission is to empower women to live independently and free from domestic violence. Their transitional housing program enables participants to receive housing and supportive services for one year after leaving the shelter.

WHPC Presbyterian Women provide “New Beginnings Baskets” for ladies going into transitional housing. New wastebaskets filled with  household supplies and cleaning products are given to the women as they begin their new lives. The WHPC congregation donates money to provide fresh fruit for the shelter during the summer months. Each week fruit is delivered so the children can have a nutritious snack.
